Ibiza style: Inkadelic
Not for everyone
Presiding over Plaza Mercado Viejo near Dalt Vila’s drawbridge since 1993, legendary Ibiza tattoo studio Inkadelic is a mecca for lovers of tattoo culture and Ibiza’s very own little shoppe of oddities.
Every nook, cranny, shelf, corner and wall artfully displays world-renowned tattoo artist Neil Ahern’s eccentric passion for collecting – from Tibetan artefacts, natural history, taxidermy and medical oddities to rare books, drawings, jewellery, skulls, Japanese masks and much more. If those walls could talk!
With 22 years of worldwide experience in tattooing, celebrity clients pepper Neil’s portfolio, though name-dropping opposes his humble nature. Mert & Marcus, Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss, David Morales and Mark Ronson are among those who have graced Neil’s antique chair, but to the artist, each and every client is equally important.
This is a man who practices what he preaches – 90-percent of his body is covered in tattoos – and the spirit, ethics and integrity of the art and its traditions thrive at Inkadelic. Working alongside talented colleague Tai Iglesias and Wes Thomas, plus the undisputed boss of the studio, Neil’s faithful canine companion Scratch, Neil is raw, honest, opinionated and creative – with an understanding of the human body and design like no other.
Neil regularly collaborates on creative projects with leading brands including Purdey, Jade Jagger for Garrard, Volpe and an exclusive new venture with Rolex Pro Hunter being unveiled in 2015. This year also sees Inkadelic go mobile, with pop-up tattoo studios appearing at the island’s hottest events and exclusive villa parties.
