One of Ibiza’s chic-est beach clubs, Amante Beach Club & Restaurant attracts Ibiza’s beautiful people by the car, boat and private jet full, and this weekend heralds the official opening party.
So the biggest question on every Ibiza fashionista’s lips is, of course, what to wear? If you plan on lazing on the plush, oversized VIP sun loungers, a bikini with built in bling is the way to go. For lunch on the terrace, opt for a classic silk maxi-dress – we love the way Beach Candy’s ‘Sky Blue’ Maxi Dress mirrors the crystalline waters of Sol Den Serra. Just add chic gold earrings and pretty coloured semi-precious rings and you’re practically a local!
WHAT TO WEAR
‘I’ve been coming to Ibiza since I was 13,’ says jewellery designer Zara Simon of her second home in the Balearics. ‘My father spent a lot of time in the ‘70s in Formentera and he introduced it to us on a family holiday, and now I’m there every summer, and also in the off season – it’s definitely inspiring.’
In describing her signature style, it’s clear Zara Simon’s designs are perfectly suited to the modern Ibiza girl. ‘My jewellery is designed to be layered,’ she says. ‘It has a delicate feel on its own, but worn together it becomes a very bold look … it’s a little bit rock and roll, yet girlie at the same time.’
‘I take inspiration from my travels,’ she says, citing Jaipur, Istanbul, Turkey, Mexico, Greece and Formentera as major inspirations. ‘I love the colours, patterns and shapes in India, the jagged rocky coastline and turquoise waters of Ibiza plus little charms and talismans you find in Greek jewellery. Somehow, it all comes together and I put a modern spin on it.’
The season in Ibiza may have only just started, but now is the time many big European department stores send buyers and designers around the world for inspiration for next summer’s collections. Guaranteed to be on the list of destinations is Ibiza – not bad work if you can get it – and the buyers basically do nothing but go shopping, and check out the latest trends here! What kind of a fantastic job is that? Read more
Music not only feeds the island, or perhaps because of it. The truth is, Ibiza enjoys a reputation as an international shopping ‘destination’, because its eclectic and curious network of boutiques perfectly reflect the tastest of a young, rebellious and cosmopolitan personality. Walk from the port district of La Marina across to Vara de Rey, without forgetting to hit the back streets of Calle de la Virgen, stroll along Avenida Ignacio Wallis and across the promenade to Marina Botafoch. You can even shop on the beach, so wide and varied is the retail therapy on offer in Ibiza. Read more
