There may have been 5000 partygoers just metres down the beach at Another Party in Another Beach Bar and just a few thousand more across the road at Yet Another Opening Party of Yet Another Club, but it didn’t stop the heart and soul of Ibiza’s social scene from showing their support at the inaugural SOS – Sands On Sabado new weekly event being held at (as the name suggests), Sands Beach Restaurant on Playa D’en Bossa on this perfect Ibiza summer’s day.
Presented by MeMeMe PR, in conjunction with Wrangler (who were giving away free clobber to those lucky enough to score an invite), this was a 12-hour super cool affair, starting with a busy lunch rush (take our tip and try the Tempura Bacalao – your taste buds haven’t lived til you sample Sands’ gourmet version of fish and chips!), slowly making the transition into a lazy afternoon of sunbathing on oversized sun beds over laidback beats and mojitos, before leading into a 3-hour after-dark DJ set by Andy Baxter that slowly but surely enticed the overspill from Those Other Parties up the beach (visiting DJ Mark Ronson among them) and onto the makeshift Sands dancefloor until the clock struck 12.
The event may have been called SOS, but we think that had everything under control!
