It’s often said in Ibiza that when the sun goes down, the action really starts to heat up and there’s never been a truer word spoken when it comes to San Antonio sunset institution Café Mambo. The metal gates that had been hemming in its iconic mosaic-tiled walls for the past seven months were finally removed, the familiar faces of the loyal bar staff and DJs were back in place and the tables and chairs were in perfectly alignment on the terrace.
Groups of sunburnt tourists – the early birds of the Ibiza season – were the first to snap up front row seats for the debut Mambo sunset for 2010, while local party promoters, restaurant owners, DJs and prominent business types took their places around the bar, booth or in the VIP section. And right before sunset, as if on cue, the family Anadon arrived, ready and raring to go for another season.
Welcome back Mambo – we’ve missed you!
