Miss W: Supperclub Novum Ibiza Grand Opening review

It’s not often Miss W is super intrigued about an opening party. Because… well… usually I’ve seen it all before – not that I’m jaded or anything, it’s just that after a few dedicated years on the job I know what to expect from a beach bar, a swish restaurant or a flashy club on opening night. Or so I thought…

But when it came to Supperclub Novum Ibiza, I had no idea what was in store. Sure, I’d been lucky enough to have a sneak peek earlier in the week, and even sample the new menu (gotta love the perks of my job!), but all the décor wasn’t in place, the performers weren’t on podiums and having never visited a Supperclub anywhere else in the world (shame on me!), I truly had no idea what to expect…

Of course I Googled, I Facebook-stalked and I asked everyone I’d ever met… but at the end of the day, I entered the all-new Supperclub Novum Ibiza with an open mind and no expectations – what a nice way to be!

From the minute we walked in, greeted at the door by Supperclub Novum Ibiza hostess Camilla Tuhuleruw – over six feet tall of pure gorgeousness and at least another foot of super-styled hair that might intimidate some people, but from the minute her breathy voice uttered, ‘Welcome to Supperclub,’ we knew we’d arrived at a friendly place.

Air-kissing our way through the amazing ‘AMOR’ art installation and a series of white-clad models and performers dressed in antique wedding dresses, with Ophelia-esque hair and striking turquoise lipstick (love it, but don’t see myself sporting it any time soon), we made our way up to the new Supperclub beds – a communal space that’s just like one big, long, daybed… a space I’m looking forward to spending more time on this summer, that’s for sure.

Trills, tweets and breathy exclamations coming from a microphone helped us locate Supperclub hostess Sunny Jansen, who was totally pulling off a vintage Audrey Hepburn vibe in a dress she assured me was from H&M (impressive!), adeptly weaving her way through the throes of people to ensure she said hello to literally everyone in the venue!

Sensational music came courtesy of Supperclub musical director (and all-round Balearic legend) John Sa Trinxa, inspiring the party vibe well before the clock struck midnight and we were all shimmied inside to the sassy, sexy and super cool Red Bar, where we danced the night away in what I’ve since learned, was true, scintillating Supperclub style. A treat for all the senses… and then some!

THE LOWDOWN

THE GOOD: While I was initially a bit worried about being sent to the Supperclub beds without any supper, a non-stop delectable selection of delicious and beautifully presented finger food was sating my hunger… if this is a taste of things to come then Supperclub Novum Ibiza is onto a good thing!

THE BAD: It was a wee bit chilly outside, due to the annoying cold snap we’ve been having this week… but I must say I made the most of it in a FAB Victoria Ibiza hand dyed pink silk velvet creation. Wait – that’s not bad at all now is it? Was there anything bad? Not that I can remember!

THE GOSSIP: Miss W has heard many a story about the performances by Supperclub creative director Sunny Jansen, but it seemed tonight was simply her night to shine as a social butterfly. A clever ploy perhaps, to get us all back again to see her show? Indeed, because I’m already planning my next Supperclub experience in anticipation!
