The problem with me and New Year’s resolutions is that I always have so many of them, I kind of lose track, half-heartedly follow some of them and then end up totally forgetting them all, meaning come the following New Year’s Eve, my list is always exactly the same as the previous year’s!
So for 2012, my first New Year’s resolution is not to have the same resolutions as last year (and the year before that, and the year before that!) and not to fall into the same trap of forgetting them! So without any further ado, please find following Miss W’s revamped and streamlined New Year’s resolutions, fresh for 2012!
- Learn to speak Spanish – properly! I’m slightly embarrassed to admit it, but I’ve been getting by on Spanglish for a very, very long time in Ibiza and it’s just not good enough anymore! I want to be able to talk about more than just the weather with Maria and Joan in my local corner store – imagine all the gossip I can get in two languages! So in order to keep this resolution rolling, I have already enrolled in Spanish classes starting next week. Any tips, tricks, coaching and practice conversations welcome – find me on Facebook to follow my progress!
- Write a book – for real. You see, Miss W has had a great idea for some time now, but spends so much time writing about Ibiza that the great idea has been growing and developing and expanding and improving in my head, and now I think it’s ready to be unleashed on the world! Publishers of the world, I’ll be in touch soon…
- Get to the beach more often – and yes, that means in summer. You may occasionally wonder why there are no photos of Miss W in the White Ibiza photo galleries… it’s because my skin is so pale it’s almost translucent, and thus, like a vampire, I am not visible in photos! Why? Well, I work all day and have been known to be a creature of the night! So this year, I plan to follow the Spanish work culture and take a siesta every day… on the beach! Who says a girl can’t have both a beach life and a night life? Because seriously, I can’t take another summer of jibs from friends about being ‘pale and interesting’ – let’s face it, being tanned and interesting is way cooler!
- Broaden my horizons. No, I don’t mean I’ll be leaving the island (as if!) but I do mean I’ll be trying lots of new things in 2012. New restaurants, new parties, new friends, new fashions… if the opportunity to do something I’ve never done before comes up, I’m always going to say yes! No matter what time of the day or night it is.
- To achieve my resolutions of course!
