VB range rover

Whenever I drive into Ibiza town I’m always amazed at the number of four-wheel drive cars about (not to mention flabbergasted as to how they fit into those tiny parking spaces!). Obviously people need a car like that if they live in the campo (and it’s true that some of Ibiza’s best kept secrets are not accessible in anything less), but a chic apartment in the Marina Botafoch? Well, this week there are six Porsche Cayennes outside our apartment block – don’t get me started on the Audis and Range Rovers.

Basically, the consensus is, if you live here, it’s almost fait accompli that you’ll eventually get one. But which one? Well you might think you’ve decided (or it’s a long way off yet and just on your wish list), but there’s about to be a new contender on the block, and it’s a quite unexpected one. Range Rover have just unveiled its smaller, sleeker model last month, dubbed the Evoque, and the new model will be designed by… former Spice Girl-come-fashion designer (and small, sleek model herself) Victoria Beckham.

Like her or loathe her you can’t deny she is one stylish lady. Of course it helps having a multi-million Euro bank account, oodles of designer friends who lavish freebies upon you and one very good-looking accessory (also known as hubby David Beckham)… but there are others who have all these things and still manage to get it wrong.

Her foray into the design world has been a resounding success (and, dare I say, far better received than her last single). The denim and structured Herve Leger style dresses have had fashionistas clamoring over each other to get hold of one, and as for the sunglasses… well we just can’t keep them in the shop here at reVOLVER.

Vic’s also just clocked up her fifth Vogue cover (Turkish Vogue this month), and next month is to team up with Kelly Hoppen, interior designer and stepmother of Sienna and Savannah Miller (of hip label Twenty8Twelve) for New York Fashion Week. There’s not doubt about it, when it comes to style, Victoria Beckham is white hot.

So I for one, am eagerly awaiting the new VB Evoque. I’m willing to bet that this time next year there are plenty of them in the narrow streets of Ibiza town, not to mention the Blue Marlin car park!
