Photo gallery: Rock Nights at Pacha Halloween 2011

While half of the island’s population were desperately trying their luck to get in to certain other Halloween parties in the north of the island, the Ibiza townie’s party of choice was at Pacha, where the Rock Nights crew had taken over the venue in their own inimitable style for the occasion. The entire club was given a ghoulish revamp to fit the theme ‘Halloween Creatures & Dead Rockstars‘ – including a shrine to the rockers and a gaggle of Amy Winehouses behind the bar and on the podiums! Fright night in Ibiza draws out the ghosts, ghouls, vampires, witches, werewolves, devils, zombies, skeletons, corpse brides, scary bunnies, sexy kittens and pretty much everything in between, and at Aura‘s annual Halloween bash, it definitely felt like walking onto the set of a horror movie! One of the last in a long line of closing parties this week, but definitely one of the biggest and most-loved was the Space Closing Fiesta, where the enormous car park was transformed into an outdoor arena hosting the world’s finest DJs, continuing well on into the hours of daylight the following morning…

The San Antonio sunset strip was buzzing in anticipation of the live performance by The Brand New Heavies, who were joined by techno legend Carl Cox on the keyboards (for one track!) as part of an upcoming documentary he is involved in, as the sun set in the background in true Ibiza style.

As the evenings get slightly chillier and the sun creeps ever so slowly around the San Antonio bay, it’s that time of year when we must say adios for another season to alternative Ibiza sunset bar Kumharas. Not without one final party of course, and when the 2011 send-off includes a giant paella, a picture perfect sunset and music and dancing until midnight, why would we want to be anywhere else? We’ll miss you Kumharas – but see you again next year!

The thing about the invitation only Ibiza Rocks After Parties, held in the inner sanctum of Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel, aka Freddie’s Bar, is that we often hear all the gossip, via morning-after Facebook posts, hungover DJs tweeting on their way back to the airport or hazy rumours from friends that were in attendance… but unless you were part of the action, it’s pretty rare to actually see photographic evidence! We sent intrepid photographer Victor Spinelli behind the scenes to see just what he could dig up, with 2manydjs, Azari & III, Mark Jones and Lottie all joining the regular Ibiza Rocks gang… A picture tells a thousand words as they say, and the rest we’ll leave up to your imaginations!

Photo gallery: Pure Form at El Hotel, 17.9.11

Models? Cameras? Spotlights? Bling? All of the above (and truckloads of the latter) were in abundance last Saturday night, at the Pure Form ‘Art in Motion’ showcase at El Hotel. Models strutted their stuff in gold, silver and lavender creations by Elkke, dripping in stunning jewellery made by the Pure Form collective of Ibiza jewellers, including JOY Jewellery, Mambo Queen, Ana Ostrum, Ela Joyas and many more, with pop-up boutique inside the bar so onlookers could snap up their favourite pieces on the night.
